Julius J. Kenworthy, 82, of Frankfort, KS, died Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at the Frankfort Community Care Home. Visitation was Friday, March 22, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m at Padden Funeral Chapel in Frankfort. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A rosary service was held at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, March 23, at Annunciation Catholic Church in Frankfort. Mass of Christian Burial followed at 10 a.m. Father Pat Sullivan officiated. Music included “One Day at a Time”, “Sing to the Mountains”, "On Eagles Wings”, “Amazing Grace”, "The Prayer”, "O Loving God” and “Sing With All the Saints in Glory.” The pallbearers were John Burton, Jim Kenworthy, Chad Kenworthy, Doug Kenworthy, Brian Kenworthy and Bobby Kenworthy. The honorary pallbearers were John Harper, Larry Hicks, Paul Tommer, John Horigan, Jeff Kenworthy, Ralph Burton, Junior Kenworthy and Charlie Harrington. Burial was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Frankfort. Julius was born August 12, 1930 at Frankfort, son of Leroy and Minnie (Holder) Kenworthy. In 1949, he graduated from Frankfort High School and was then employed with Hall Brothers Construction. On September 27, 1952 he was united in marriage to Louise Gregg at Annunciation Catholic Church. In October 1952, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Riley. In 1953, he served in Korea for one year. After his honorable discharge in 1953, he returned home to Frankfort. Julius was employed by Marshall County Road Dept., Blue Rapids Co-op, and Union Pacific Railroad as a truck driver. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW and on the Frankfort City Council. He enjoyed collecting caterpillar toys, restoring old tractors, gardening and yard work. He liked to play cards and loved country music. He was a true fan of Boxcar Willie, bib overalls and Dr. Pepper. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Leroy Kenworthy, Jr.; and two brothers-in-law, Loren Burton and Harold Craft. Survivors include his wife, Louise; brothers, Art (Dorothy) Kenworthy, Webb City, MO, Ralph (Mary Lou) Kenworthy, Manhattan, Bob (Jane) Kenworthy, Frankfort, Howard (Mary Lee) Kenworthy, Aurora, KS; sisters, Norma Burton, Marysville, and Lorna Mae Craft, Blue Rapids; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Kenworthy, Marietta, GA; several nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions can be made to the Frankfort Care Home or Frankfort Fire Department. Contributions may be sent in care of Padden Funeral Chapel.
