Ruth A. Keck

Ruth A. Keck, 96, formerly of Marysville, KS, died Friday, March 22, 2013 at the Leonardville Nursing Home. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 27, at the First Christian Church in Marysville. Rev. Jerry Zanker officiated. Deb Landoll played the organ while the congregation sang "How Great Thou Art" and "Because He Lives." The pallbearers were Paul Keck, Ryan Keck, Luke Chaffee, Tom Huffman, Victor Schwarz and Richard Temps. Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery. Ruth was born August 25, 1916 at Marysville, daughter of Herman and Lola (Gibson) Smidt. On October 30, 1943 she married Harold Keck in Marysville. He preceded her in death on June 18, 2001. Ruth was a member of the First Christian Church and past member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Merlin Smidt. Survivors include her son, Art (Lisa) Keck, Manhattan, KS; brother, George Smidt, Fountain Valley, CA; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
