Elizabeth “Betty” J. Koeneke, 65, of Marysville, KS, died Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at Cambridge Place in Marysville. Visitation was Friday, from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m., at Kinsley Mortuary. A funeral service was held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, July 6, at Immanuel State Line Lutheran Church, north of Marysville. Rev. Rob Garton officiated. The choir sang "Blessed Be The Tide That Binds" and "Precious Lord, Take My Hand" accompanied by Mary Lou Retchless on the organ. The pallbearers were Lee Papes, Roger Bruna, Dan Keller, Darold Bolton, Russ Bruna and David Friedrichs. The honorary pallbearers were Don Prell, Kyle Bruna, Bob Theye, Matt Papes and Tim Grauer. Burial was in the church cemetery. Betty was born September 23, 1947, at Odell, NE, daughter of Marvin and Verna (Rengstorf) Riggert. On February 5, 1967 she married Dennis Koeneke at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Marysville. She had a day care center for kids for many years. Betty enjoyed her grandkids, the outdoors and taking care of her flowers. She was preceded in death by her father, Marvin Riggert. Survivors include her husband, Dennis, Marysville; two sons, Tracey Koeneke and wife, Rebecca, Olathe, KS, and Travis Koeneke and wife, Crystal, Manhattan; mother, Verna Riggert, Marysville; two brothers, Roger Riggert, Denver, CO, and Kevin Riggert, Omaha, NE; and six grandchildren.
