Rollin Edwin Fincham, 86, of Marysville, died Friday, April 18, 2008, at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at the United Methodist Church in Marysville. The Rev. Gerry Sharp officiated. Deb Landoll played the organ while Pat Breeding sang "Amazing Grace". Rev. Sharp sang "Serenaded by Angels" and the congregation sang "I'll Be Seeing You". Pallbearers were Tanney Mayhew, Jim Mayhew, Aaron Smirl, Mark Smirl, Tim Grauer, and Greg Bothwell. Honorary pallbearers were Gary Bothwell, Jim Schramm, Jim and Sharon Chaulk. Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery. Rollin was born Nov. 11, 1921, near Blue Rapids, KS, the son of Stephen and Jessie Tyler Fincham. He graduated Blue Rapids High School in 1939, and Iola Junior College at Iola, KS, in 1942. He was an Army veteran of World War II with overseas service in the African and European Theaters. He began work for the Kansas Department of Transportation in 1946; he was the resident engineer at Marysville from 1955 to 1977. He worked for Hall Brothers Construction Company from 1977 to 1982, and was Marshall County Engineer from 1982 to 1987. He served a two-year term on the Marysville City Council from 1987 to 1989. Rollin was a much loved, honored and respected husband and father. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, Yorkrite Bodies, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Moose Lodge, and Marysville Country Club, all of Marysville; and he was a member of the Arab Shrine of Topeka. He was married to Genevieve Bothwell on June 9, 1946, at Marysville. She preceded him in death on November 27, 2004. Rollin was also preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Jessie Fincham; two brothers, Kenneth and Linus; and two sisters, Mary and Lucile. Survivors include one daughter, Jennifer Smirl and husband Mike of Denton, TX; one son, Michael Fincham and wife Sharon Messick of Manhattan, KS; one brother Robert Fincham and wife Mary Anne of Blue Rapids, KS; three grandchildren, Mark Smirl of Chicago, IL, Aaron Smirl and wife Jennifer, and their son Aidan, all of Portland, OR, Megan Stephenson and husband Shannon, and their children Marie, Maisy, and Lincoln, all of Blue Springs, MO. A memorial fund has been established to the American Legion Post #163. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
