James E. Tommer, 87, Frankfort, died Monday, March 31, 2008, at the Frankfort Community Care Home. A service was at 10 a.m. Friday, April 4, at Annunciation Catholic Church, Frankfort. The Rev. Jim Shaughnessy officiated. Mary “Moogie” Roeder was organist. Hymns were “Prayer of St. Francis,” “On Eagle’s Wings” and “Peace Is Flowing Like a River.” Burial was in the Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Frankfort. James Tommer was born Nov. 17, 1920, at Frankfort, the son of Phillip Sr. and Christine Mentgen Tommer. He graduated from Frankfort High School in 1939. He was in the Army Air Corps. He worked for Warren Jewelry, Frankfort and the First National Bank, Frankfort, for over 35 years. He was a judge for the city of Frankfort and was the city treasurer for over 35 years. He was a member of the American Legion, Knights of Columbus and a member of the Frankfort Volunteer Fire Department and the Lions Club. Survivors include his wife; sons, Paul, Frankfort; Gary, Kansas City, and Ron, Colorado Springs, Colo.; sister, Arvilla Poindexter, Albuquerque; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Larry; one great-grandchild, Jacob Schmidt; three brothers, Francis, Matt and Phil; and two sisters, Loretta Charbonneau and Mary Buck. Memorial contributions may be made to the Frankfort Ambulance Service and Volunteer Fire Department and sent in care of Padden Funeral Chapel, Frankfort.
