Violet Rose Buss, 89, Marysville, formerly of Columbus, Neb., died Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at Cambridge Place, Marysville. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 5, at Peace Lutheran Church, Columbus, Neb. The Rev. Ernest G. Smith officiated. Jerry Joseph played the organ while Luther Bakenhus sang “How Great Thou Art,” “Amazing Grace,” and “The Lord Is My Shepherd.” Pallbearers were her grandchildren, Aaron Stohs, Jeremy Stohs, Brian Cook, Jason Cook and sons-in-laws, Lynn Stohs and Jim Cook. Honorary pallbearers were Danielle Buss and Brandie Buss. Burial was in the Roselawn Cemetery, Columbus. Violet was born Dec. 14, 1918, at Columbus, the daughter of Otto and Rose Mueller Held. She graduated from Kramer High School, Columbus, in 1936. She married Walter Buss June 29, 1938, at Immanuel Lutheran Church. She was office manager at the Columbus Clinic. In 2004, she moved to Marysville to be near her daughter. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Marysville, and a charter member of Peace Lutheran Church, Columbus. She enjoyed traveling, reading, needlework and spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include her daughter, Cheryl Stohs, Marysville; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter Buss; brother, Earl Held; son, Michael David Buss; and grandson, Matthew David Stohs.
