Elizabeth Jane "Betty" Bonjour, 61, of Vermillion, KS, died Monday, July 22, 2013 at the Onaga Hospital with family by her side. Visitation was Friday, July 26, from noon until 5 p.m., at Padden Funeral Chapel, Frankfort. A rosary service was held at 7 p.m., Friday, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Lillis. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 27, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The pallbearers were Therron Figge, Eric Broxterman, Mark Broxterman, Sean Donahue, Jerry Lee Younger and Justin Mars. The honorary pallbearers were Lawrence Bonjour and Merle Bonjour. Dylan Figge was a special honorary pallbearer. Burial was in the Neuchatel Cemetery, Nemaha County, KS. Betty was born April 29, 1952 at Onaga, KS, daughter of Laurence Francis and Marie Kathryn (Arlint) Pretz. Betty was an outgoing, cheerful person with a kind smile. She was a farmer-rancher her entire life. She worked hard and took pride in her cattle, horses, and land. She loved animals, especially horses. She and her horse Pumpkin competed and placed in many Foundation Quarter Horse Registry shows, including being named 1998 Reserve World Champion in the Ranch Versatility Division. She married Donald L. Bonjour in 1970. They later divorced. Survivors include two daughters, Traci Bonjour and Jessica (Therron) Figge, both of Centralia; one grandson, Dylan; and sister, Peggy (Leighton) Broxterman, of Topeka. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Leroy Pretz; and infant daughter, Elizabeth. A memorial fund has been established to the American Cancer Society or the Onaga Hospital.
