William A. Harries, 68, of Bremen, died Monday, July 29, 2013 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Marysville. Visitation was held, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday, August 1 at Kinsley Mortuary. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Friday, August 2, 2013 at Bethlehem Lutheran, Bremen. Rev. Jack Kirk officiated. Bev Crome played the organ while the congregation sang “What a Friend We Have in Jesus”, “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God” and “Jesus Christ is Risen Today”. The pallbearers were Brian Harries, Tom Luppen, David Harries, Randy Harries, Michael Harries, Josh Rengstorf, Ryan Rengstorf and James Gutierrez. Burial was in Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery, Bremen. William was born on June 14, 1945 in Marysville to William H. and Lillie (Luedders) Harries. He graduated from Marysville High School in 1963. William enlisted in the Army National Guard and served from 1963 to 1969. He was united in marriage to Deanne K. Niemann on June 21, 1970 at Trinity Lutheran Church near Hanover, KS. Bill was raised on a farm and spent his whole life farming. He built a new dairy farm in 1974 and operated it for 26 years. Bill was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Bremen and served as an elder. He enjoyed traveling and taking long summer vacations with his family. He was active with the Kansas Dairy Herd Improvement Association and a member of the Herkimer Coop Board of Directors. Bill also served as president of the Bremen District Lutheran School Board. Bill is survived by his wife Deanne of Bremen; daughter, Brenda (Tim) Rice of Lenexa, KS; sons, Aaron Harries of Manhattan, Allen (Terry) Harries, Craig (Kelly) Harries, both of Herkimer; four brothers, Dan Harries of Grand Island, NE, John Harries of Las Vegas, NV, Tom Harries of Kansas City, Steve Harries of Marysville; four sisters, Cynthia Harries of Independence, MO, Mary Davis of Huntersville, NC, Dorothy Harries of Marysville, Rebecca Gutierrez of Topeka; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial fund has been established to the church. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
