Lyle L. Polson, 86, of Beattie, KS, died Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at the Hanover Hospital in Hanover, KS. Visitation was Sunday, August 11, from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m., at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 12, at the Beattie United Methodist Church. Rev. Susan Montgomery officiated. Jane Sedlacek played the organ while Kathy Rueger sang “Hymn of Promise”. The guitarist, Jake Byrne, sang "Just a Closer Walk with Thee" and "Will the Circle Be Unbroken". The pallbearers were John Gurss, Tim Polson, Steve Mills, John Grable, Rick Polson and Brent Polson. Burial with Military Honors was in Beattie Union Cemetery. Lyle was born on March 6, 1927, near Vermillion, KS, son of Ernest and Judith Kjellberg Polson. He graduated from Frankfort High School in 1945. After graduation he entered the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany during World War II. On December 7, 1946, he married Margaret Hurtie at his parents' home in Frankfort. He was a farmer and also worked for the Marshall County Road and Bridge Department as a motor grader for 22 years. Lyle was a member of the Beattie United Methodist Church, the Beattie American Legion, and the Moose Lodge at Marysville. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Polson of Beattie; children, Linda (John) Rueger, Beattie, Larry (Helen) Polson, Beattie, Debbie (Steve) Hargrave, Randolph, KS, and Dianne (Ron) Holst, Odell, NE, twelve grandchildren, Amy Carlson, Scott (Tracy) Rueger, Jason (Lauren) Rueger, Jamie (Ray) Grado, Heather (Steve) Ward, Josh (Jenny) Polson, Jeff (Shelly) Polson, Derick (Ashlie) Hargrave, Melissa (Kurtis) Geisler, Nick Hargrave, Andrea (Kyle) Dorn, and Jackie (Anthony) Flores and eleven great-grandchildren, Lexi and Taylor Rueger, Sophia and Payton Grado, Teagan and Jack Ward, Noah and Isabella Polson, Carter Hargrave, Cody Geisler, and Deighton Dorn. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gale Polson; and great-granddaughter, Sawyer Polson in 2011.
