Marlene Ann Arnold, 74, Marysville, KS, died peacefully on August 19, 2013, in the company of family. The family received friends from Monday, August 26, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 27, at Immanuel Lutheran (State Line) Church north of Marysville. Rev. Rob Garton officiated. Mary Lou Retchless was the organist. Music included “Amazing Grace” and “Softly & Tenderly”. The pallbearers were Jeff Crist, Ivan Bartels, Kathy Pacha, Arlene Wessel, Raymond Pacha, Don Stenglemeier, Leanna Stenglemeier and Marjean Eichelberger. Burial was in St. John's Cemetery, Barneston, NE. Marlene was the daughter of Paul and Willa Pearson, she was born in Marysville on October 15, 1938. She graduated from Marysville High School in 1956 and briefly attended nursing school in Topeka. She was united in marriage to Carl Arnold on February 8, 1958 and moved to Springfield, Illinois, where she worked as an executive secretary. She and Carl later divorced. Marlene returned to Marysville and worked many years at Cambridge Place. She recently moved to Manhattan to be close to family, but always considered Marysville her home. Marlene enjoyed spending time with family and friends, spoiling her dogs, reading her kindle, playing card games and traveling. Her spunk, feisty spirit, sense of humor and loving heart will be dearly missed. Survivors include her daughter, Stephanie (Paul) Klimek, Manhattan, KS; granddaughter, Alyssa Klimek, Kansas City, MO; and her beloved Chihuahuas, Fawn and Finn.
