Glenn E. Ferris, 52, of Marysville, passed away April 28, 2008, at Lincoln, Neb. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 3, 2008, at the United Methodist Church in Marysville. Visitation will be Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the mortuary. Pallbearer will be Woody Walstrom, Wally Walstrom, Wes Dalrymple, Chris Besinger, Ben Fehr, Phil Landoll, Ben Schaefer, Jeff Mayer and Sean Eichelberger. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Besinger and Brad Eichelberger. Burial will be in the Marysville City Cemetery. Glenn was born January 21, 1956, at Topeka, Kan., the son of Elbert and Margaret (Stewart) Ferris. He attended Santa Fe Trail High School. On August 2, 1974, he married Cherie Thompson at Topeka, Kan. They had two children, Traci and Jason. In 1973, Glenn moved to Marysville and worked a short time for the Herkimer Coop. He then worked as a machinist at Tension Envelope for 25 years, then owning and operating a truck driving business, and Little Hap's Bar & Grill in Home, Kan. Glenn enjoyed baseball, coaching many area youth teams. He also enjoyed the Dallas Cowboys and visiting with his neighbors. Survivors include wife Cheri Ferris of Marysville; one son, Jason Ferris of Olympia, WA; one daughter, Traci Wilkinson and husband Mike of Marysville; four brothers, David Ferris of Topeka, Michael Ferris of Scranton, Paul Lester of Scranton, and Melvin Lester of Topeka; two sister-in-laws, Mid and Carol Lester; father, Elbert Ferris of Scranton; and two grandchildren, Austin and Alana Ferris of Marsyville. He was preceded in death by his mother; and three brothers, Carl Lester, Ray Lester, and Lonnie Lester. A memorial fund has been established to American Legion Baseball.
