Cecilia was born to Henry and Regina (Kamphaus) Dwerlkotte in rural Marysville, on November 22, 1930. She graduated from Beattie High School and briefly worked in Topeka. Cecilia fell in love and married Delmar Odean Oppedal, who whisked her away to California where she lived for nearly 50 years outside of Sacramento, before returning to live in Beattie in 2003. CeCe’s primary vocation was raising her children and caring for her beloved husband who had sustained an injury that left him wheelchair bound at the age of thirty-three. It is this selfless devotion to tirelessly caring for her husband that will live on as her finest achievement. Survivors include her two children, David of Sacramento, CA and Teresa of Austin, TX; two granddaughters, Madeline and Anne Ewell of Austin; siblings Hilde Knight of Beattie and Henry Dwerlkotte of Carmichael, CA; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delmar in 1986; brothers, Francis and Paul; and sister, Elizabeth Studer. A memorial fund is established to Meadowlark Hospice. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary. To order memorial trees or send flowers to the family in memory of Cecilia T. Oppedal, please visit our flower store.
