Marvin G. Baumfalk, 70, died Sunday, May 11, 2008, at his residence near Beattie. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 17, 2008, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Beatrice, NE. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, Beatrice. Marvin was born May 28, 1937, the son of Henry and Irma (Hrdlricka) Baumfalk. On April 29, 1961, he married Alyce Umphres at Lincoln, NE. To this marriage four children were born, Traci, Scott, Ronda, and Lee. Marvin and Alyce later divorced. After serving in the U.S. Navy, Marvin worked as a truck driver, mechanic, and auto parts store owner in Beatrice, Grinnell, IA, Nashville, AR, and Skidmore, TX. He was a member of The Fraternal Order of Eagles, American Legion, Veteran of Foreign Wars, and a former Shriner. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on vehicles, and visiting with friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant sister, Celeste Baumfalk; and one granddaughter, Amber Griner. Survivors include a special friend, Mary Klein of Beattie; two daughters, Traci Younts and husband Michael, Sandia, TX, and Ronda Colgrove and husband Cory, Beatrice; two sons, Scott Baumfalk, Lincoln, NE, and Lee Baumfalk and wife Debra, Beatrice, NE; four brothers, Richard Baumfalk, Beatrice, Donald Baumfalk, Firth, NE, Dennis Baumfalk, Beatrice, and John Baumfalk, Newton, KS; and seven grandchildren, Aaron Wright, Elyce Baumfalk, Matthew Baumfalk, Erin Jurgens, Kai Colgrove, all of Beatrice, and Mikayla Younts and Louis Younts, of Sandia, TX. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary, 1006 Broadway, Marysville, KS.
