Paul E. Holenbeck, 82, of Frankfort, KS, died Friday, September 27, 2013 at the Frankfort Community Care Home. Visitation was Sunday, noon until 8 p.m., at Padden Funeral Chapel. The family received friends from 4 to 6 p.m. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, September 30, at the First Presbyterian Church in Frankfort. Gary Phillips officiated. The musicians were Jane Sedlacek and Steve Gleason. Music included “Daddy’s Hands”, “Green, Green Grass of Home” and “Amazing Grace”. The pallbearers were Casey Donnelly, Brady Donnelly, Ben Hawkins, Kevin Hawkins, Mark Hawkins, Audrie Gudenkauf and Mitch Gudenkauf. Burial was in the Frankfort Cemetery. Paul was born August 13, 1931 near Beattie, KS, to Paul R. and Minnie (Schmidt) Holenbeck. In 1949, he graduated from Beattie High School. On September 4, 1955, he married Joyce Haley. He ran a full service gas station in Frankfort for 35 years. After the station, he was a self-employed mechanic for 12 years. He also did snow removal. Paul enjoyed country music, played guitar, and sang with a band. He was a 50 year member of the Oddfellows and sang with the community choir. Survivors include his wife Joyce, Frankfort; daughters, Debra (Pat) Donnelly, Wamego, KS, Rhonda (Dennis) Hawkins, Beattie, KS, Brenda (Rick) Gudenkauf, Olathe, KS; brother, Everette Holenbeck, Kansas City, KS; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded by his parents; brother, Jack Holenbeck; and sister, Ruby Seematter. A memorial fund has been established to the Frankfort Ambulance or Meadowlark Hospice.
