Linda O'Toole, 65, of Frankfort, KS, died, Thursday, October 3, 2013 at her home. Visitation was Sunday, noon until 8 p.m., at Padden Funeral Chapel in Frankfort. The family received friends 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Monday, October 7, at the United Presbyterian Church in Blue Rapids, KS. Gary Phillips officiated. Jan Pope played the organ while Ron Smith sang “Old Rugged Cross” and “Amazing Grace”. The pallbearers were Kyle Brooks, Lucas Brooks, Brent Boyle, Matt Borgerding, Rick Christener and Ron Wagner. The honorary pallbearers were Allen Cammel, Lyle Brooks, Dustin Huckfeldt, Dean Huckfeldt, Bill O’Toole and Vince O’Toole, Sr. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery, Blue Rapids. Linda was born on September 5, 1948, at Marysville, KS, to Donald and Beverly (Kelley) Edwards. She attended school in Frankfort and graduated from Frankfort High School in 1966. She worked at the Community Memorial Hospital, then in the early eighty’s went to work for her parents at the Blue Valley Café in Blue Rapids. In 1990, they bought the Westside Café in Frankfort and Linda ran it until 2000. After the café, she worked for the Friendly Cooker in Frankfort and Wamego until retiring in 2006. She enjoyed going on big family vacations which included cruises, trips to Arkansas and Branson. Camping with the family, especially grandchildren, was another favorite pastime. She helped organize the first of many family Fourth of July backyard camping weekends. Spending time with her grandchildren was a pleasure, either attending birthday parties or just playing games with them. Linda enjoyed cooking for family gatherings and holidays. She was a great cook. Linda would join her husband and friends playing poker at Sac N’ Fox. Norma Wilburn, Carol Vering, Joyce Blocker, Ruth Maschmeier, Jeanne Maschmeier, Flossie Ascheman, Sharon Petefish, Karen Geophart, Jean Dieters, Jill Hatfield and Emma Lou Krogmann were her group of friends she enjoyed getting together and playing poker. Linda had a great sense of humor and will be missed by all of her family and friends. On October 21, 1967, she married Joseph J. O’Toole, Jr., he survives. Other survivors include her daughter, Brenda O’Toole (Clint Zabokrtsky), Odell, NE; sons, Joseph J. (Dena) O’Toole III, Blue Rapids, Donald D. (Lynn) O’Toole, Olathe, KS; sisters, Janice (Lyle) Brooks, Blue Rapids, Donna Rhyne, Topeka; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Victoria Huckfeldt. A memorial fund has been established in her name, the family will designate at a later time. Contributions may be sent in care of Padden Funeral Chapel, Frankfort, KS.
