Elnora Heuer

Elnora Anna Alma Heuer was born on November 19, 1922, on the family farm near Hanover, Kansas, the daughter of Fred Kruse and his wife Marie Wassermann Kruse. She received her gift of eternal life on May 27, while a patient at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Lincoln. Elnora was 85 years, 6 months, and 8 days old. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, May 30, 2008, at Trinity Lutheran Church northeast of Hanover. The Rev. Rodney Fritz officiated. Arlyce Klipp was the organist. The congregational sang "On Eagles Wings" and "Beautiful Savior". Vocalist David Heuer sang "How Great Thou Art" and vocalist Valerie Oltman sang "Soon & Very Soon" and "Amazing Grace". Pallbearers were Andy Licht, Andy Leseberg, Travis Riekenberg, Phil Stollberg, Will Stollberg and Alan Steinfort. Burial was in the church cemetery. Elnora was Baptized into the Christian faith on November 26, 1922 at Trinity Lutheran Church by the Rev. Dr. William Mahler. Her sponsors were Anna Kruse and Alma Kruse. Elnora was Confirmed in the faith on March 21, 1937 at Trinity by Dr. Mahler. On September 27, 1946 Elnora was united in marriage to Walter Heuer. The wedding was held at Trinity and performed by Rev. Theo. Kauffeld. Elnora served her Lord as a lifelong faithful member of Trinity, as a member of Trinity’s Ladies Aid Society and as a member of The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. She graduated from the 8th Grade from Trinity Lutheran School. Before marriage she worked at Concordia Teacher’s College. Her hobbies included quilting and embroidery. She loved music and reading. Elnora was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Marie; husband, Walter; infant son, Charles; four sisters, Marie Meyer and her husband Albert, Martha Meyer and her husband Raymond, Erna Licht and her husband Arnold, and by Ruth Heuer; one grandson; and one great-grandson. Survivors include her children, Jerry Heuer and wife Nancy of Hanover, Kathy Kruse and her husband Harlan of Herkimer, and Lynette Horman and her husband Wilbur of Hanover; two sisters, Lorena Leseberg of Hanover and Olga Heuer and husband Norbert of Hanover; two brothers–in–laws, Victor Heuer of Hanover, and Edwin Leseberg of Wymore, Nebraska; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; eleven great-great-grandchildren; and also many nieces, nephews, and friends. A memorial fund has been established to the church. Contributions may be sent in care of the Hanover Mortuary.
