Mary Hayes

Mary E. Hayes, 91, Marysville, died Sunday, May 25, 2008, at Cambridge Place, Marysville. A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 29, 2008, at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church in Marysville. Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Lillis. A rosary was at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, at St. Gregory’s. Visitation was from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary. Mary was born Jan. 28, 1917, at Jamestown, daughter of Sanner and Daisy Houchins Spicher. She grew up in Concordia. She moved to Lillis after the death of her father. She graduated from Lillis Rural High School in 1937. She married Michael B. Hayes on June 1, 1937. He preceded in death on Nov. 11, 1967. She was a member of St. Gregory’s Church, Daughters of Isabella, St. Gregory’s Altar Society and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. Survivors include Michael Gerald, Blue Springs, Mo., John William, Manhattan, James Patrick, Lyons, Thomas Eugene, Lakewood, Colo., Edward Joseph, Rio Rancho, N.M.; daughter, Mary Ann Richardson, Marysville; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Iola Kinkade, Manhattan. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, May Taylor Brooks, Sena Richards and Gertrude Dochow; and an infant brother, Percy. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Gregory’s and/or St. Joseph Catholic’s Church and sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
