Anna (Hoffmier) Bowhay

Anna Marie (Huffmier) Bowhay, 93, of Holton, KS, and formerly of Frankfort, KS, died Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Holton. Visitation was Monday, November 4, noon to 8 p.m., at Padden Funeral Chapel. A graveside funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, November 5, at Antioch Cemetery near Frankfort. Rev. Norma Jeane Miller officiated. Burial followed. Anna was born June 29, 1920, on a farm west of Bigelow, KS, to Carey "Cad" and Charlotte (Harrison) Grove. On December 1, 1939, she married Ralph Francis Huffmier. To this union two sons were born, Larry Francis Huffmier and Charles “Bill” Huffmier. On June 24, 1978, she married Joseph Bowhay. Anna lived most of her married life in Frankfort except for three years when she lived in Sycamore, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Ralph Huffmier and Joseph Bowhay; son, Larry Francis Huffmier; four brothers, Glen, Charles, Bill and Ralph Grove; and sister, Ruth Poersch. Survivors include her son, William “Bill” Huffmier and wife Janet, Hoyt, KS; grandchildren, Brett Huffmier and wife Stacey, Lyndon, KS, and Marlee Gilbert, Hoyt, KS; four great-grandchildren, twins Shayann and Shayla Huffmier, Paige and Caiden Gilbert. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Padden Funeral Chapel.
