Lawrence Martin

Lawrence Eugene Martin, 82, Waterville, died Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013. A service was at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30, at the Hanover Cemetery. Lawrence was born Feb. 20, 1931, at Beattie, the son of William Edmond and Ivalee Shanks Martin. He attended school in Beattie. He served three years in the Army. He married Darlene June Roever in 1951. They lived on a farm north of Waterville until she died in 2011. He became sheriff of Marshall County in 1969 and served 14 years. On retirement he worked for the county road and bridge crew. Later he drove a bus for the railroad. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, his twin Leonard E. Martin, Springfield, Mo., Howard L. Martin, Beattie, and Edward Martin, Houston, Texas; and his sister, Leotta Lucile Maletta, Seattle. Kinsley Mortuary, Marysville was in charge of arrangements.
