Harold E. Miller, 74, of Wakarusa, KS, and formerly of Frankfort, KS, died Friday, December 27, 2013 at his home. Visitation was Monday, December 30, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., at Padden Funeral Chapel in Frankfort. A rosary service was held at 7:00 p.m., Monday, at Annunciation Catholic Church in Frankfort. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 31, at Annunciation Catholic Church. Father Pat Sullivan officiated. Jeanie Gerstner was the organist. Music included “Sing a New Song Unto the Lord”, “Morning Has Broken”, “You Are Mine”, “Be Not Afraid” and “Lead Me Lord”. The pallbearers were Bryan Wassenberg, Zachary Winter, David Wanklyn, Chet Fincham, Jr., Dan Wullschleger and Larry Wullschleger. The honorary pallbearers were Steve Keating, Bill Kennedy, Tom Baumgardner and William “Tom” Wanklyn. Burial was in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Frankfort. Harold was born on May 7, 1939, at Westmoreland, KS, son of Joseph and Katherine (Otto) Miller. He attended Frankfort Catholic School and graduated from Frankfort High School in 1957. On August 1, 1962, he joined the Army Reserves and was honorably discharged on August 31, 1964. On February 4, 1960, he married Nila Nadine Frerking. They lived north of Frankfort except for 5 months in 1962 when they lived in Junction City. In 1993, Harold retired from farming and moved to Topeka and in 1994 moved to his current home in Wakarusa. The Harold "laugh" will forever be remembered by his daughters and friends. He loved to play cards and could be heard to yell "Trump". Harold was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and attended Eucharistic Adoration Hour weekly. In 2004, he married Geraldine A. Maner at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Topeka. She survives in Wakarusa. Other survivors include his four daughters, Tracy (Lynn) Wassenberg, Home, KS, Julie (Sydney) Winter, Chandler, AZ, Angie Miller, Normal, IL, and Kelli (Charles) Crain, Valley Center, KS; step children, Mary Lisher, Thomas Baumgardner, Suzette Smith and Daniel Baumgardner; two brothers, Paul Miller, Valley Falls, KS, Ralph Miller, Frankfort; sisters, Ramona Langlois, Lawrence, KS, Evelyn Hamilton, Topeka, and Pearl Rougewitz, Ozawkie, KS; five grandchildren; six step grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Eugene, Loraine “L.J.” Miller; and sister, Mary Hamilton. A memorial fund has been established in his name.
