Ronald Zimmerling, 80, of Beattie, KS, died, Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at the Frankfort Care Home. A rosary service was held at 7 p.m., Friday, January 10 at St. Malachy's Catholic Church in Beattie. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, January 11 at St. Malachy's Catholic Church. Father Jim Shaughnessy officiated. Burial was in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Beattie. Ronald was born on September 5, 1933 to Arnold and Marie (Norman) Zimmerling at Home, KS. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Ronald was honorably discharged and returned home to farm. Ronald enjoyed watching his favorite sports teams, KU Jayhawks and Dallas Cowboys, watching soap operas, playing cards at Little Haps and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He belonged to the American Legion in Marysville. On March 3, 1962, he was united in marriage to Judith Eck. She survives. Other survivors include his children, Greg (Barb) Zimmerling, Marysville, Jim Zimmerling, Beattie, Ralph Zimmerling, Marysville, Rita (Brian) Throm, Marysville, and Gloria (Roger) Skeen, Beattie; siblings, Peggy Schneider, Wichita, and Bill (Joyce) Zimmerling, Wichita; thirteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents; and grandson, Andy Wassenberg. A memorial fund is established and will be designated by the family later.
