Gregory A. Haas, 65, died February 11, 2014 at his home in Marysville. Visitation was Sunday, February 16, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., at Kinsley Mortuary. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 17 at United Evangelical Church of Christ, Marysville. Rev. Judy Scott officiated. The musicians were Debbie Bruna, Maybelle Circle and Saundra Haas. Music included “On Eagles Wings”, “Be Not Afraid”, “Amazing Grace” and “God Bless the USA” at the graveside. The pallbearers were Jerard Haas, Marcus Haas, Ron Green, Rick Busch, Deward Cummings and Bill Montague. The honorary pallbearers were Doyle Temple, Fred Cohorst, Bob Griswold, Ronnie Jacques, Donnie Cudney, Cleve Walstrom and Gary Wassenberg. Burial was in Marysville City Cemetery. Greg was born to Edward and Eileen (Luehring) Haas on September 1, 1948 at Marysville. He graduated from Marysville High School in 1966. On October 6, 1967 he married Janice Claeys and raised four children. Greg worked side by side with his father at Haas Auto Repair for many years. Greg and his brother Gary purchased the business and worked together before retiring. He was a member of Sons of the American Legion and the Evangelical United Church of Christ.  Greg put family first; he enjoyed holidays spent with family, taking trips, playing cards and going to movies. He was a collector of steins, guns, stamps, coins, baseball cards, John Deere tractors and memorabilia. Greg was a connoisseur of Hershey and Russell Stover chocolates, as well as various Pepsi products. He was a big supporter of the Boy and Girl Scouts of America. Greg was strong, outspoken, stubborn, fun-loving, empathetic and a true patriot. He had a deep appreciation and respect for our men and women in service. He gave tirelessly to veterans and veterans affairs .He  enjoyed hours of visiting with friends over the years at the shop. He will be remembered for his  "test drive ride along" in which he and friends would ensure the countryside of Marshall County was intact.Greg loved people and family and would do anything for anybody. Preceding him in death were his father; and a nephew, Steven Haas. Survivors include his wife Janice, Marysville; mother, Eileen, Marysville; sons, Jerard (Courtney) Haas, Auburn, KS, and Marcus Haas, Marysville; daughters, Saundra Haas, Wichita, and Melissa Haas, Marysville; brother, Gary (Jeanne) Haas, Marysville; sisters, Jeanette (David) McClain, Arizona, and Diane (Bruce) Throm, Marysville; six grandchildren, four nephews and three nieces. A memorial fund has been established in his name and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary, Marysville.
