Bertille Zimmerling, 89, Home City, died Sunday, June 29, 2008, at Cambridge Place, Marysville. A rosary service was held at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 2, 2008, at St. Gregory's Catholic Church. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 3, 2008, at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church in Marysville. The Rev. Gary Pennings officiated. Cindy Voet played the organist while Barb Knecht led the choir in singing “On Eagle’s Wings”, “Our Father”, “Amazing Grace”, “Here I Am Lord”, “You Are Mine” and “How Great Thou Art.” Burial was in the Home City Cemetery. Pallbearers were James Simmons, James Kroeger, Wally Zimmerling, Jim Bob Zimmerling, Troy Zimmerling Michael Zimmerling and Rachel Musil. Honorary Pallbearers were Steven VanCamp, Kenny VanCamp, Lynn Wassenberg, Francis Kroeger, Buck Schwarz and Gerald Seematter. Bertille Zimmerling was born Nov. 7, 1918, at Salina, the daughter of John and Teresa Timmich Koel. She married Walter Zimmerling in November of 1943 at Belton, Mo. She was a homemaker and an RSVP worker. She enjoyed reading, being with family, watching football and other sports and camping. Survivors include five sons, Michael and Walt, Frankfort, Bob, Wamego, Paul, Home City, and Phil, Axtell; one daughter, Theresa Eslinger, Marysville; seven stepdaughters, Verla Towle, Rose Drake, Nadine VanCamp, Grace Wion, Zena Allen, Dolores Foutts and Dorothy Landreth; and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, James and Charles; one brother, Robert Koel; and one sister, Betty Cook.
