Lois W. Shubkagel

Lois Winifred Shubkagel, 73, of Frankfort, KS, died Feb. 28, 2014 at Community Memorial Healthcare, Marysville, KS.A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Wed., March 5, at the United Methodist Church in Frankfort. Rev. Norma Jeane Miller officiated. Organist was Jody Turnbull and vocalists were Steve Gleason and Dan Broxterman. They sang "Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain" and Wind Beneath My Wings."Pallbearers were Mike Ramsey, Challen Ramsey, Eric Braunschweig, Dan Broxterman, Brandon Lawrence and Tim Shea.Burial was private.Lois was born April 28, 1940 at Denver, CO, to Alvin and Winifred (Cretney) Nelson. She spent her growing up years in Leadville, CO, and graduated from Leadville High, after which she spent one year attending Mesa College in Grand Junction, CO.On June 17, 1961, she married Rolland Shubkagel. This was the start of a 52 year love affair. They were blessed with daughters, Adriene Rae Lawrence, Leadville, CO, Martha Ann Shea, Durango, CO, Erin Sue Broxterman, Frankfort, and Dawn Lee Ann Sandavol. These girls were the love of her life. Her sons-in-law were her boys, Brandon Lawrence, Tim Shea and Dan Broxterman. She loved them like her own.Lois and Rolland lived in Colorado 20 years ago, before moving to Kansas.She was preceded in death by her parents. Lois was involved in Girl Scouts, Rainbow Girls and anything that was needed. She was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a good cook, as evidenced by the healthy family she leaves behind. Lois was a good friend to everyone she met and loved her friends. She will be missed.Lois worked at Walmart in Marysville.Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans. Contributions may be sent in care of Padden Funeral Chapel.
