Charles Albert Atwood, 82, Frankfort, died July 15, 2008 at the Mercy Regional Health Care Center in Manhattan after an extended illness. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 17, 2008, at Padden Funeral Chapel in Frankfort. The Rev. Kenneth James officiated. Pallbearers were Carl Atwood, Chuck Atwood, Chet Fincham Jr., Larry Swanson, Leon Fox and Larry Wessel. Honorary bearers are Marc Atwood, Hank Sisk, Marc DeJong, John Harper, Steve Gleason, Chet Fincham, Sr. and Masonic Lodge Brothers. Burial was in the Frankfort City Cemetery. Charles was born November 4, 1925 in Vliets, Kansas. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a WWII veteran. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 50 years, served 15 years on the board of the Nemaha-Marshall Electric Cooperation Association. On February 14, 1948, he married Wanda Dauber. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Chuck and wife Connie of Washington, Iowa, and Carl of Frankfort; and one grandson, Marc of Hollywood, California. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Margaret Atwood; and one daughter, Cheryl Atwood.
