Edna Elise Luhring, 88, of Hanover, Kan., died Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at the Hanover Hospital. Visitation was Friday, April 11, from 12:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Hanover Mortuary. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 12, at Trinity Lutheran Church northeast of Hanover. The Rev. Rodney Fritz officiated. Arlyce Klipp played the organ while the congregation sang “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” and “Jesus Christ is Risen Today”. The choir sang "A Faithful Shepherd."The pallbearer were Aaron Harries, Allen Harries, Joshua Rengstorf, Craig Harries, Ryan Rengstorf and Scott Schotte.Burial was in the church cemetery.Edna was born at rural Hanover on February 12, 1926 to Henry and Anna (Schramm) Klipp. On April 25, 1948, she was united in marriage to Ernest Niemann. Ernest died January 1, 1958.On November 5, 1977, she married Art Luhring. Art died March 16, 2002.Edna worked for 32 years as a dietary cook at the hospital. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, belonged to the Ladies Aid and LWML. She enjoyed quilting, cooking and gardening. Spending time with family and grandchildren were very important to her.Preceding her in death were her parents; husbands; son-in-law, Bill Harries; grandson, Brandon Rengstorf; sisters, Velma Minge and Enola Meyerhoff. Survivors include daughters, Deanne Harries, Bremen, Alvera (Jim) Leseberg, Herkimer, Ladonna (Curtis) Rengstorf, Marysville, and Karen (Doug) Rengstorf, Bremen; step-children, Sandra (Larry) Kelley, Agnes Warner, and Terry (Belinda) Luhring, Ron Luhring, all of Texas, Richard (Sherry) Luhring, Colorado; sister-in-law, Mildred Niemann; eleven grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. A memorial fund has been established and the family will designate later. Contributions may be sent in care of Hanover Mortuary.
