Velma A. Duensing

Velma A. Duensing, 92, Marysville, died Thursday, May 1, 2014, at Community Memorial Hospital, Marysville.Visitation was Sunday, May 4, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary.  The family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m.A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 5, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Marysville.  Rev. Dr. Kevin Golden officiated.  Carol Wright played the organ while the congregation sang “I Know My Redeemer Lives”, “Jesus Savior Pilot Me” and “Abide With Me”.The pallbearers were Greg Golden, Jeremy Duensing, Jason Duensing, Chris Duensing, Kirk Duensing and Gary Holle.Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery.Velma was born on December 5, 1921 to Albert and Christina (Dierking) Bluhm at Herkimer. On December 25, 1944 she was united in marriage to Elmer L Duensing. To this union they were blessed with three children.She was a mail clerk for the Bremen Post Office for many years. She was a member of the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church and belonged to LWML and Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the Evening Circle and sang in the choir at Immanuel.Velma was a past president of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Kansas Rural Letter Carriers Assn and was a board member for the Agency on Aging.Preceding her in death were her parents; and sisters, Hilda Koeneke and Myrtle Koeneke.Survivors include her husband, Elmer; children, Judy (Jim) Golden, Carthage, MO, Lonnie (Bev) Duensing, Beatrice, NE, and Kenneth (Zita) Duensing, Blue Rapids, KS; sister, Loine (Oral) Beckmann, Longmont, CO; brother, Vernon Bluhm, Escondido, CA; nine grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.A memorial fund has been established and will be designated by the family later.
