Nancy Rae Sandefur, 80, Oketo, KS, died Monday, May 5, 2014 at Cambridge Place, Marysville, KS.Visitation was Friday, May 9, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Kinsley Mortuary, Marysville.Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 10, at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, Marysville.  Father Jim Shaughnessy officiated.Bob Welch was the organist.  Music included “I Am the Bread of Life”, “On This Day Oh Beautiful Mother”, “I Am Not Worthy” and “Alleluia! Sing to Jesus”.Burial was in the Oketo Cemetery.Nancy was born September 7, 1933 at Oketo, KS, to Elmer (Slim) and Jennie (Carson) Affholder. She attended Oketo Elementary School and graduated from Barneston High School in Barnston, NE in 1950.After graduating, she worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. in Topeka, KS, Missouri, Massachusetts and Colorado before retiring in 1986. After retiring, she joined Walmart and worked there for thirteen years.On July 30, 1956, she married Francis Trainor at Leavenworth, KS.  They later divorced.On May 15, 1981, she married Joseph Sandefur at Raytown, MO.  He preceded her in death in 2003.Nancy loved traveling and visiting with people. She just enjoyed life in general.Survivors include two daughters, Kathryn Deschaine, Chicopee, MA, and Margaret (Peggy) Hicks, Barneston, NE; three sons, Michael Trainor, Webster, MA, Patrick Trainor, Sioux Falls, SD, and Sean Trainor, Whitinsville, MA; two step-sons, Michael Sandefur and Randy Sandefur, both of Great Falls, MT; two sisters, Alice Jay, Dallas, TX, and Kathryn Freiss, Houston, TX; two brothers, Bob Affholder, Marana, AZ, and Bill Affholder, Arizona City, AZ; sixteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph; four brothers, John Affholder, Merwin Affholder, Lee Affholder and Jim Affholder; and three sisters, Eileen Becker, Crystal Williams and Donna Hoppenstadt.A memorial fund is established and will be designated by the family later.
