Gertrude Elizabeth Holle, 89, died Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Hiawatha, KS. Visitation was Thursday, June 12, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. A rosary service was held at 7 p.m., Thursday, at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church in Marysville. Sister Eulalia Kloeker officiated. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, June 13, at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church. Father Pat Sullivan officiated. Jane Sedlacek will play the organ and the vocalists will be Sarah Kleopfer and Hillary Boye. Music will include "Prayer of St. Francis”, “On Eagles Wings”, “Here I Am Lord” and “You Are Mine”. The pallbearers will be Don Ring, Doug Ring, Lynn Wilson, Charlie Ring, Mike Ring and Dave Banaam. The honorary pallbearers will be Jason York, Tim Anderson and Jonathan York. Burial will be in St. Gregory's Catholic Cemetery, Marysville. Gertrude was born Feb. 2, 1925 at Beatrice, NE, to Henry and Anna (Borzekofski) Zumbahlen. She attended St. John’s Catholic School and graduated from Hanover High School in 1942. She attended K-State and received her teaching certificate. She taught for several years in small rural one room schools. Gertrude worked for a while as a receptionist for Drs. Carl Ott and Judy York. In 1950, she married Allen Holle. Her greatest love was being a housewife and babysitter. She was well known for her pies and sewing. She was a member of St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, Altar Society and American Legion Auxiliary. In 2012, she moved to Vintage Park Assisted Living Care Facility at Hiawatha. She was especially fond of the Dale and Judy York family, Jason, Tiffany (Tim) Anderson, Allison and Jonathan, claiming them all as members of her family. She was preceded in death by her husband; and brother, Clarence Zumbahlem. Survivors include her children, Rita (Rod) Spellman, Hiawatha, Carol (Scott) Slupianek, Marysville, and Allen (Peggy) Holle, Peuwakee, WI; sister, Virginia Ring, Marysville; 7 grandchildren, Holle (Will) Lancaster, Hillary (Noel) Boye, Halley (Ryan) Chase, Erin (Kim) Edwards, Chris (Amanda) Slupianek, Liza and Dana Holle; and 8 great-grandchildren, Lucas and Jackson Lancaster, Quinn, Brynnen and Kellen Boye, Carter Chase, Ashlyn and Jax Slupianek. A memorial fund has been established to St. Gregory’s Catholic School or Vintage Park. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
