Wanda Atwood, 79, Frankfort, died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008, at her home. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 25, at Padden Funeral Chapel, Frankfort. The Rev. Kenneth James officiated. Pallbearers were Carl Atwood, Chuck Atwood, Chet Fincham Jr., Larry Swanson, Leon Fox and Ernie Allison. Honorary pallbearers were Marc Atwood, Hank Sisk, Marc DeJong, John Harper, Steve Gleason, Chet Fincham Sr., Greg Hopper, Garth Hopper, Larry Wessel, Kevin Klemmer and Bob Shubkagel. Burial was in Frankfort Cemetery. Visitation was noon to 8 p.m. Sunday. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wanda Atwood was born Aug. 19, 1929, the daughter of Ernest and Iva Cook Dauber. She went to Meriden High School. She married Charles Atwood on Feb. 14, 1948. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Eastern Star. She enjoyed playing cards with friends, gardening, traveling to the Southwest, Colorado Rocky Mountains and Wyoming. Survivors include her sons Chuck, Washington, and Carl, Frankfort; one grandson; and a sister, LaVerta Klemmer, Kansas City, Kan. She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Cheryl; parents; and sister, June Allison. A memorial fund has been established and contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
