Shirley Schreiner, 79, Frankfort, died Monday, Aug. 25, 2008, at Hanover. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 27, 2008, at the United Methodist Church, Frankfort. The Rev. Norma Jean Miller officiated. Karen Fowler gave a tribute. Janet Plegge played the organ while Greg and Carla Marples sang “Amazing Grace” and “Nearer My God to Thee”. Pallbearers were John Schreiner, Bob Schreiner, Charles Schreiner, William Budenbender, John Suther and David Schreiner. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery, south of Frankfort. Visitation was from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Padden Funeral Chapel, Frankfort. Shirley Schreiner was born on Dec. 6, 1928, at Frankfort, the daughter of Elmer and Blanche Slade Ford. She married Orville Schreiner. Survivors include her son, Kurtis, Topeka; daughters, Carol Kerner, Hutchinson, Janet Wylie, Owasso, Okla., and Nancy Schreiner, Frankfort; sister, Marvine Hancock, Ariz., and Emma Suther, Frankfort; and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband, Orville; sister, Betty Zdenek; and brother, Lyle Ford. A memorial fund has been established and contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
