Hubert “Hub” Mueting, 84, of Axtell, KS, died Saturday, July 19, 2014 at the Life Care Center in Seneca, KS. Visitation was Wednesday, July 23, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Axtell-Landreth Funeral Home in Axtell. A rosary service was held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Axtell. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 24 at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Father Albert Hauser officiated. Kathy Buessing played the organ while the choir sang “Here I Am Lord”, “Precious Lord, Take My Hand”, “Be Not Afraid”, “On Eagles Wings” and “”Holy God We Praise Thy Name”. The pallbearers were Doug Mueting, Justin Mueting, Kyle Mueting, Derek Mueting, Stephen Mueting, Byron Mueting, Scott Kramer and Brian Kramer. Burial was in St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Axtell American Legion. Hubert “Hub” was born December 7, 1929 in Centralia, KS, to Herman and Nora (Heiman) Mueting. In 1948, he graduated from St. Peter and Paul High School. Hubert served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict (1951) as secretary to a Colonel and honorably discharged as a Corporal in 1953. Following the service, he worked for General Motors Aircraft, building the 787 Thunder Jet. On June 13, 1953 he married Mildred Skoch. In 1955 they moved north of Axtell where they farmed dairy, hogs and row-crops. They resided on the farm until 1993. Hubert served as a licensed Adjuster for Cimarron, Blakely Crop/Hail, and RCIS Insurance Companies, 1977-2004, and was a licensed seed dealer for Stauffer and Northrup King Seed, 1956-1998. He was an associate member of NCIS, served on the Sabetha Creamery Board of Directors, Nemaha County Farm Bureau Board and St. Michael’s School Board. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Axtell American Legion Post 214 and the Seneca Memorial VFW Post 7458. Hub loved gardening and traveling the world with Mildred. He enjoyed getting together with friends and family, cream in his coffee, and good food and drink to celebrate the day. He looked forward to the five o’clock hour. His favorite times of year were haying and calving seasons. Survivors include his wife, Mildred; three sons, Dale (Sheila) Mueting, Centralia, Duane (Alison) Mueting, Baileyville, and Ray (Amy) Mueting, Axtell; daughter, Sharon (Marvin) Kramer, Marysville; sisters, Ann Hunter, Kansas City, MO, Hermina Huninghake, Edina, MN, Mary Koch, Baileyville, Nora Kay Van Pelt, Gulf Port, MS; brother, Henry Mueting, Chelsea, MI; nine grandsons, three granddaughters and twelve great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Leonard Mueting and Elmer Mueting. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated at a later date.
