Eleanor B. Grauer

It is always painful to lose your mother-no matter her age or yours. So it is with enormous sadness that we acknowledge the passing of our beloved and devoted mother and grandmother, Eleanor B. Grauer. She passed on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at the age of 101 at Cambridge Place in Marysville. Visitation was Thursday, July 24, noon until 5 p.m., at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. A rosary service was held at 7 p.m., Thursday, at St. Gregory's Catholic Church in Marysville. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m., Friday, July 25, at St. Gregory's. Father Jim Shaughnessy officiated. Bob Welch played the organ while the choir sang "Prayer of St. Francis", "Precious Lord, Take My Hand", "You Are Mine", "How Great Thou Art" and "You Are My Sunshine." The pallbearers were Mike Ring, Jon Grauer, Marty Malotte, Ron Grauer, Jim Malotte and Chris Grauer. Burial was in St. Gregory's Catholic Cemetery. Eleanor Barbara was born on May 20, 1913, on a farm outside of Marysville, the daughter of Dominic and Lillian (Schwindamann) Ring. She was the sixth of thirteen children. Eleanor attended St. Gregory’s Catholic School and graduated from Marysville High School in 1931. She was a lifelong member of St, Gregory’s Catholic Church and was currently the oldest member of the parish. On December 26, 1932, she married Arthur Grauer at the St. Gregory’s Parish House. The celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1982. Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; eight brothers; four sisters; son, Jim Grauer; and son-in-law, Winton Dam. Survivors include daughters, Jean Dam and Pat (Tom) Malotte; daughter-in-law, Sue Grauer; eleven grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. With tears in our eyes and love in our hearts we will cherish her always and we miss her already. A memorial fund is established to St. Gregory’s School or Meadowlark Hospice.
