Ruth Marie Lord, 88, of Marysville, KS, died, July 22, 2014 at Cambridge Place in Marysville. Visitation was Friday, July 25, from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. The family received friends 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 26, 2014 at the United Methodist Church in Marysville. Rev. Dan Lord officiated. Gail Gilkerson was the organist and Micah Kee played “The Lord’s Prayer” on the violin. Other music included “All the Way My Savior Leads Me”. The pallbearers were Brent Lord, Shelton Allen, Don Butler and Kevin Harmer. Burial was in the Marysville City Cemetery. Ruth Marie was born August 15, 1925 at Beattie, KS, the eldest daughter of Charles W. and Margaret (Larkin) Moore. In 1943, she graduated from Beattie High School. On July 1, 1943, Ruth was united in marriage to Bert E. Lord, Sr. They lived and farmed around the Winifred area. In 1952, they moved to Home, KS, where they ran a service station. After moving to Marysville in 1954, Ruth worked for the United Dairy and a local ice cream store. In 1961, she began working for Blue Valley Telephone and retired in 1999 after 38 years. Ruth was a member of the United Methodist Church and was very active as a volunteer in the community. She was a very accomplished seamstress and sewed costumes for M-ACT Productions for many years. Traveling, attending dances, just being involved in any social activity, and being with family and friends were some of the things Ruth loved. She never knew a stranger. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bert Lord, Sr. on December 23, 1982; two brothers, Robert Moore and William Moore; and a sister, Carol Romine. Survivors include her sons, Bert (Dee) Lord, Jr., Marysville, and Larry D. Lord, Terre Haute, IN; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A memorial fund is established and the family will designate at a later time. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
