Mark Alan Kabriel, 44, of Blue Rapids, KS, died Sunday, August 24, 2014 at his home. Visitation was Wednesday, August 27, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Axtell-Landreth Funeral Home in Axtell. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 28 at the Axtell United Methodist Church. Rev. Shirley Edgerton officiated. Jane Sedlacek played the organ while the congregation sang “Hymn of Promise”. Marilyn Rogers sang “I Can Only Imagine” and led the congregation singing “I’ll Fly Away”. The pallbearers were Gary Hutson, Dave Carder, Ed Dixon, Gary A. Hutson, Martin Volle, and Kent Buessing. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Axtell. Mark was born April 23, 1970 at Marysville, KS, the son of Gary and Sharon (McAtee) Kabriel. In 1988, he graduated from Axtell High School and then completed the auto body repair course at Manhattan Vo-Tech, Manhattan, KS. He worked at Titan Trailer in Waterville, Precision Truss in Marysville, and most recently as a welder at Landoll’s Shop 80 in Marysville. Mark was a member of the Axtell United Methodist Church, Central Aero Modeler’s Society, and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed a variety of outdoor activities with his friends including, off-roading, mudding at the river, building and flying remote controlled airplanes, fishing, hunting and shooting. He enjoyed sharing his shop facilities with friends and the challenge of fixing the broken. He had a talent for fabricating parts for new projects, from a tiny little part for an auto controller to an entire operational automobile or machine. He kept several large aquariums. When he looked at what others called junk, he saw possibilities and opportunities. He has raised boxers for many years. He leaves behind two, Uno and Sis. Survivors include his parents, Gary and Sharon of Summerfield, KS; and a brother, Brian Kabriel and his wife Stephanie, and their daughter, Kaylee, of Olathe, KS.
