LaVerne T. Hopper, 74, of Marysville, KS, died Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at Saint Elizabeth Regional Medical Center in Lincoln, NE. Visitation was Friday, September 12, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Padden Funeral Chapel in Frankfort. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, September 13, at the Church of Christ in Marysville. Dennis Holst officiated. The congregation sang “How Great Thou Art” and “Amazing Grace”. The pallbearers were Lonnie Edwards, Robert Hopper, Bruce Edwards, Tommy Edwards, Jeremy Koch and David Blevins. Burial was in the Frankfort City Cemetery. LaVerne was born January 30, 1940 in Arkansas, the daughter of Thomas and Gertie (Williams) Musgrove. She graduated from high school in Mansfield, Ark. She married Robert Hopper. They later divorced. They lived in the Frankfort and Westmoreland areas. She worked at the Frankfort Community Care Home and the West Community Care Home for more than 30 years. LaVern enjoyed music, playing the piano and singing. She was a big fan of Elvis and hotrod cars. Survivors include her two sons, Lonnie (Vicki) Edwards, Frankfort, KS, and Robert (Jessica) Hopper, Blue Springs, NE; brother, T.H. Musgrove, Mansfield, Ark.; sister, Gertie Irene, Terra Haute, Ind.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, James and Marion Musgrove; and three sisters, Gladys, Ruth and Virgie. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later.
