Wilfred Leseberg, 91, of Herkimer, KS, died Friday, September 19, 2014 at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville. Visitation was Monday, September 22, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary. The family received friends 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, September 23, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church north of Bremen. Rev. Jack Kirk officiated. Jennifer Rupprecht played the organ while the congregation sang “A Mighty Fortress”, “Lord Take My Hand” and “Abide with Me”. The pallbearers were Lyle Stohs, Lynn Stohs, Charles Linkugel, Lewis Linkugel, Lyle Westwood and Tom Holle. Burial was in the church cemetery. Wilfred was born April 6, 1923 at Herkimer, KS, son of Herman and Loretta (Crome) Leseberg. On April 20, 1947 he married Edna Saathoff at Stateline Lutheran Church north of Marysville. He was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where he was baptized and confirmed. He held many offices in the church and was a member of Men’s Club and Lutheran Laymen's League. Wilfred farmed his entire life until retiring. He enjoyed watching parades, teams of horses and playing cards. Survivors include his children, Beverly Weiche, Barnes, KS, Jim (Alvera) Leseberg, Herkimer, and Roger Leseberg, Syracuse, NY; sister-in-law, Wilma Linkugel, Lincoln, NE; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna; parents; son-in-law, Jerry Weiche; daughter-in-law, Terri Leseberg; two sisters; two sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; and two step-mothers, Sophia Blanke and Dora Dierking. A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
