Lauri A. Schell, 50, Marysville, KS, died after a brief struggle with cancer on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at Cambridge Place in Marysville. Visitation was Thursday, October 2, from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary. The family received friends 6 to 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 3, at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, Marysville. Father Jim Shaughnessy officiated. Cindy Voet played the organ while Paula Landoll-Smith sang “Be Not Afraid”, “Amazing Grace”, "On Eagles Wings”, “You Are Mine” and “Harvest Moon”. The pallbearers were Don Rutti, Jacob Tiers, David Lord, Brad Studer, Daniel Schell and Michael Schell. The honorary pallbearers were Gavin Strunk and Garrett Strunk. Burial was in St. Gregory’s Catholic Cemetery. Lauri was born May 14, 1964 at Marysville to Dennis L. and Wilma J. (Gerdes) Schell. She attended school at Marysville and worked as an inventory coordinator for Landoll Corporation. Besides spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends, Lauri loved cruising in the country, horses and fishing. She was preceded in death by her mother, Wilma; son, Jason Stroemer; and sister, Lesli Schell. Survivors include her father, Dennis and fiancé Pam; fiancé, Craig Koutsky, Frankfort; daughters, Gina Stroemer and Jamie Stroemer, both of Marysville; sisters, Linda Tiers, Westmoreland, Lisa (Tom) Nolan, Marysville, and Jana (Paul) Strunk, Manhattan; brother, Jon Schell, Marysville; six granddaughters, one grandson, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial fund is established in her name and the family will designate at a later time. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
