Arlene M. West, 62, of Axtell, KS, died Friday, October 3, 2014 at Bryan Medical Center in Lincoln, NE. Visitation was Monday, October 6, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Axtell-Landreth Funeral Home in Axtell. A rosary service was held at 7 p.m., Monday evening at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Axtell. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, October 7, at St. Michael's Catholic Church. Father Albert Hauser officiated. The musicians were Linda Heinen, Robin Holthaus, Cheryl Reinecke and Emily Ronnebaum. Music included “On Eagles Wings”, “In Every Age”, “The Lord is My Hope”, “How Great Thou Art” and “You Are Mine”. The pallbearers were Joshua Meyer, Blake Ronnebaum, Eric Broxterman, Brett Ronnebaum, Kevin Ronnebaum and Brian Friedrich. Burial was in the church cemetery. Arlene was born December 17, 1951 at Axtell, daughter of Virgil and Rozella (Kuckelman) Ronnebaum. She graduated from Axtell High School. On May 27, 1978 she married Bob West at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Axtell. Together they lived in Pamona, KS, Seneca, KS, Pawnee City, NE, and Axtell. Arlene did daycare and was a Special Ed Para in Pawnee City. She enjoyed children, taking pictures, playing jokes on friends and was an excellent cook. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and Guild. Survivors include her husband, Bob; parents, Virgil and Rozella Ronnebaum, Axtell; sons, Chad (Christy) West, and their daughters, Aunalyce and Nevaeh, Wilbur, NE, and Darren West and sons, Jordon and Shon, Pueblo, CO; sisters, Deb (Keith) Meyer, Bern, KS, Sheryl (Dave) Ronnebaum, Axtell, and Connie (Jerry) Broxterman, Vermillion, KS; brothers, Gary (Deb) Ronnebaum, Rolan (Mary Jane) Ronnebaum and Lynn Ronnebaum, all of Axtell. She was preceded in death by two infant sons, Brandon John and Dale; and sister, Marilyn Friedrich. A memorial fund has been established to St. Michael’s Catholic Church or School. Contributions may be sent in care of the Axtell-Landreth Funeral Home.
