Loleta A. Morton, 84, of Frankfort, KS, died Monday, October 27, 2014 at the Frankfort Community Care Home. Visitation was held on Wednesday, October 29, from Noon until 8 p.m. at the Padden Funeral Chapel in Frankfort. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 30, at the Frankfort United Methodist Church, with Rev. Michael McKee officiating. Rheta Matson sang "Be Not Afraid" and "You Are Mine", accompanied by Janet Plegge on the organ. Pallbearers were Lance Cline, Austin Cline, Harold Armstrong, Dennis Ahlvers, Bob Alley, and Ed Bryan. Honorary pallbearers were, Herschel Mentgen, Willie Jones, Bud Boudreau, and Darrell Colhouer. Burial was at the Antioch Cemetery near Frankfort. Loleta was born November 25, 1929 at Frankfort, daughter of Everett and Zona (Roberts) Warnica. In 1947, she graduated from Frankfort High School. On October 28, 1951, she married Rex Allan Morton at Bigelow, KS. She worked as a telephone operator in Frankfort for several years, was a farm wife and helped Rex with the cattle, raking hay and many other things. She also enjoyed watching her grandsons. Loleta worked as a clerk for Cline Auctions from 1979 until 2003. After Rex died she lived in Manhattan, Onaga, and returned to the Frankfort Community Care Home. Loleta very much enjoyed cooking and baking pies. She cooked for the Frankfort Rotary Club, church dinners, and also entered the Marysville Advocate Recipe Contest every year and won the overall championship one year. Loleta was on the Election Board for the Bigelow Township for many years and was a faithful member of the Frankfort United Methodist Church. Survivors include her daughter, Annette Cline and husband John, Onaga; two grandsons, Lance Cline and wife Lynette, Havensville, KS, and Austin Cline and wife Shenandoah, Frankfort; and two exchange student daughters, Maria and Patty. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rex A. Morton in 2004; and brother, Ronald “Pete” Warnica. Memorial may be made to the Frankfort United Methodist Church or Frankfort Community Care Home. Contributions may be sent in care of Padden Funeral Chapel.
