Velora Agnes Wollenberg, 86, died Monday, November 17, 2014 at Ft. Scott, KS. Visitation will be held at Kinsley Mortuary on Thursday, November 20, from 3 to 9 p.m. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Friday, November 21 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Marysville. Rev. Roger Henning officiated. Carol Wright played the organ while the congregation sang “What a Friend We Have in Jesus”, “Amazing Grace”, and “Old Rugged Cross.” The pallbearers were Cole Wollenberg, Hank Brockman, Mike Weichman, Jerry Stohs, Dave Stohs and Bruce Abitz. Burial was in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Bremen. Velora was born on March 19, 1928 to Rudolph and Clara (Riggert) Stohs at Bremen. On June 3, 1951, she was united in marriage to Floyd Ross Wollenberg at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Bremen. She cooked for the Marysville School District, then worked 30 years for Blue Valley Tele-Communications. Velora also assisted with cleaning people’s homes for the SRS Department. As a hobby she was a huge stamp collector, started doing it as a child. Velora was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church and was involved with several organizations within the church. She attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Ft. Scott after moving there shortly after her daughter’s death to be close to her son and his family. She is survived by her son, Mark (Tammy) Wollenberg, Ft. Scott, KS; brothers, Victor (Leila) Stohs, Bremen, and Walton (Joann) Stohs, Jeff City, MO; sisters, Florence Abitz, Onaga, KS, and LaVonne (Richard) Weichman, Marysville; three grandchildren, Chelsea, Krista and Cole; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Floyd; daughter, Nancy Wollenberg; brothers, Eldon Stohs and Melvin Stohs; and a sister, Arelia Stohs. A memorial fund is established and the family will designate at a later time. Contributions may be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary, Marysville.
