Josephine “Jody” E. Barker, 66, of Marysville, KS, died Thursday, November 20, 2014 at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville. Visitation was Sunday, November 23, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary in Marysville. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m., Monday, November 24 at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church in Marysville. Father Jim Shaughnessy officiated. Delores Bruna played the organ while Paula Landoll-Smith sang "Amazing Grace”, “Angels Among Us”, “On Eagles Wings” and “How Great Thou Art”. The pallbearers were Richie Mick, Jimmy Keller, Ryan Mick, Rick Schroller and Ron Schroller. Burial will be in the Oketo Cemetery. Jody was born on June 3, 1948 at Marysville, the daughter of Joseph and Juanita (Butler) Barker. She attended St. Gregory’s Elementary School and then went to school in Barneston, NE. She worked as a CNA at Mary Marshall Manor in Marysville for 27 years. Jody loved animals, loved her granddaughter, Bonnie, enjoyed watching sports, Kansas City Royals baseball and Kansas Jayhawks basketball. Survivors include her daughter, Dawn Vorseth and husband Dave, Marysville; granddaughter, Bonnie Vorseth; sister, Joyce Schroller and husband Billy, Oketo; brother, Kevin Height and wife Shannon, Greenleaf; and nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Janet Mick in 2011. Memorials will be designated later and can be sent in care of Kinsley Mortuary.
