Verna Lea Jeffries

Verna Lea Jeffries, 62, of Frankfort, died Friday, October 31, 2008. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 7, 2008, at Padden Funeral Chapel in Frankfort. The Rev. Norma Jean Miller officiated. Verna Jeffries was born October 18, 1945, at Frankfort, the daughter of Vernon and Jennie (Lewis) Jeffries. She went to Frankfort and Maple Hills schools. She received an associates degree in civil engineering at Kansas State University at Salina. She married John Robert “Bob” Nemechek in June, 1964. He preceded her in death. She lived in Anaheim and Santa Anna, California, for 16 years, working for Joline Tool Co. She returned to Kansas and worked for Hall Brothers Construction, Inc. She enjoyed sewing, jewelry making, reading and hearing children laugh. Survivors include her parents and her sisters, Becky Miller, Topeka, and Robi Schreiner, Marysville.
