Karla K. (Jones) Elliott

Karla Kay Jones Elliott, 42, died Monday, December 8, 2014 at Manhattan, KS. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, December 15 at the United Methodist Church, Frankfort, KS. Rev. Michael McKee and Rev. Dale Lewis will officiate. Karla was born May 31, 1972 at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka. Her parents are Ken and Alice Jones. She grew up in Frankfort and attended grade school and high school there. She was baptized by Father Jim Shaughnessy on October 25, 1987 and confirmed on October 28, 1987 with her confirmation class at Annunciation Church. Karla loved singing with the church choir during high school and also went to music contests and did very well. She enjoyed writing and attended various writing workshops. Writing poetry and short stories were her favorite. Karla attended Crum’s Beauty School in Manhattan. Karla remembered her baptism and rededicated her life to Jesus at the United Methodist Church on November 2, 2014. On July 17, 2011, she was united in marriage to Mitchell Elliott. He survives. Other survivors include her parents; son, Joshua Andrew Stone, Kansas City, KS; brothers, sisters and many friends. Preceding her in death was a son, Brent Lee Spellmeier, on August 16, 1990; and her beloved grandmother, Carrie Arbutus Jones. Karla had a big heart and cared deeply for others, especially the under privileged. A memorial fund is established in her name and will be designated by the family at a later time.
