William H. Wassenberg

William Harold Wassenberg, 79, died January 6, 2015 at Cambridge Place, Marysville. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Kinsley Mortuary on Sunday, January 11, 2015. At 7 p.m., a Rosary Service will be held at St. Gregory's Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial service is Monday, January 12, at St. Gregory's Catholic Church at 10:30 a.m. Fr. Jim Shaughnessy will officiate. Burial is in the church cemetery. Bill was born to Harold and Martha (Barta) Wassenberg on November 11, 1935 at Home, Kansas. He graduated from Marysville High School in 1954. Bill was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force, after serving overseas in Newfoundland, for four years. Bill and Leota R. Gose were united in marriage on May 9, 1957 in Marysville. They lived at Hanover, where Bill worked for Sedlaceks Furniture. After moving to Marysville, Bill worked for Ott Electric from 1965 to 2008. He also installed antennas and satellite dishes. Bill enjoyed bowling, fishing and traveling to visit family. Survivors include his wife, Leota; children, William Wassenberg, Jr., Marysville, Barb Zimmerling, Marysville, Matthew Wassenberg, Quincy, IL, Phillip Wassenberg, Marysville, Curtis Wassenberg, Marysville; brothers, Gus Wassenberg, Sam Wassenberg, both of Portland, OR, Jim Wassenberg, Florida, Jean Wassenberg, Las Vegas, NV; sisters, Kathleen Adams, Portland, OR, Diane Oestan, Broomfield, CO, Ruth Hoffman, Lora Roudybush, both of Abilene, KS; thirteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Robert Wassenberg; and grandson Andy. A memorial is established in his name and will be designated by the family later.
