George G. Stauffer, 72, of Frankfort, Kansas, died Friday, January 9, 2015 at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville, Kansas. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at the Annunciation Catholic Church in Frankfort. Visitation will be from Noon to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at the Padden Funeral Chapel in Frankfort and the family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. George was born August 22, 1942, in Manhattan, KS, to Geraldine Pendergast and John Stauffer. He graduated from Luckey High School in Manhattan, KS. George and Rose Marie Tully were united in marriage at St. Joseph’s Church on McDowell Creek Road in Manhattan, KS, June 19, 1965. The couple then moved to the family farm west of Frankfort. Five daughters were born to this union, Jeanette, Kathy, Amy, Jennifer, and Sharon. George was a farmer and stockman his entire life, as well as an avid outdoorsman, hunter, fisherman, and conservationist. Over his lifetime, George and Rose Marie improved the family farm by terracing, planting windbreaks and native grasses, thus ensuring the soil and water quality for future generations. He never knew a stranger and was a jack of all trades being proficient in carpentry, electrical, and plumbing. George was known for his great stories and wealth of knowledge. If you didn’t know how to do something, you gave George a call and he would help you. He was preceded in death by his parents, Geraldine and John Stauffer; brother, J.D. Stauffer; sister-in-law, Dell Stauffer; and brother-in-law, Barry George. He is survived by his wife, Rose; daughters, Jeanette (Tom), Castaic, CA; Kathy (Doug), Frankfort, KS; Amy (Jacob), Sitka, AK; Jennifer (Gabe), Kensington, KS; and Sharon (Matthew), Lawrence, KS; sisters, Joanne George, Mary Kay Stauffer, and Michele Stauffer; and 8 grandchildren: Ashley, Makayla, Lane, Cody, Bret, Kaylynn, Journey, and Braddock. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made out to the George Stauffer Memorial and can be sent in care of the Padden Funeral Chapel in Frankfort.
