Kathleen C. Reedy, 85, formerly of Hanover, KS, passed away Saturday, November 15, 2008, at the Catholic Care Center in Wichita, KS. A rosary service was held at 7 p.m., Friday, November 21, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Hanover, KS. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, November 22, at the church. Father Jim Hoover and Sister Marilyn Wall officiated. Janet Fritschi played the organ and the church choir sang. The music selections included “How Lovely Is Your Dwelling Place”, “Hail Mary, Gentle Woman”, “Amazing Grace”, “Song of Farewell”, “How Great Thou Art” and "O Danny Boy". Pallbearers were Jake Reedy, Brad Wilson, Dallas Mies, Doug Reedy, Jimmy King, David Sedlacek and Berrigan Willmott. Burial was in St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Hanover. Kathleen was born May 10, 1923 in Fairbury, NE, to Phillip and Catherine (Scheetz) Singleton. She attended Hanover grade school and high school. On December 29, 1941, she married Elvin Reedy at Hanover. Together they farmed, operated a dairy and raised their family in the Hanover community. Kathleen was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Nothing was more important to her than her family and she became very involved in family genealogy. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, cooking and was a very talented seamstress. Kathleen was a life-long member of St. John’s Catholic Church, Hanover, Kansas. She was employed for many years at the Hanover Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elvin Reedy; one daughter, Karen Reedy; one brother, Dennis Singleton; and one grandson, Brian Sedlacek. Survivors include two sons, Steve Reedy of Ontario, OR, and Francis Reedy and wife Susan of Albany, OR; six daughters, Peg King of Wann, OK, Linda Greenup of Asheville, NC, Patti Wilson and husband Sam of Waterville, KS, Barb Hamblen and husband Terry of Bedford, TX, Becky Willmott and husband Kevin of Lawrence, KS, and Kathy Mies and husband Earl of Clearwater, KS; 28 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one sister, Donna Wilson of Marysville, KS, and three brothers, Paul Singleton of Topeka, KS, Jerry Singleton and wife Elnadean of Liberty, NE, and Jim Singleton and wife Carol of Topeka, KS.
