Travis T. Olmsted, 27, of Beattie, KS, passed away early Tuesday, November 18, 2008, at his home. A funeral service was held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 21, 2008, at St. Malachy's Catholic Church in Beattie. Bishop Thomas Olmsted and Father Anthony Putti officiated, also assisting were Father Gary Pennings and Father Jim Shaughnessy. Monica Anderson was the organist and vocalists were Veronica Olmsted and Michelle Waite. The music was "City of God", "Rain Down", "Canticle of the Sun", Lord, You Have Come" and "Irish Blessing". Burial was in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Beattie. Pallbearers were Andrew Landon, Anthony Landon, Brian Hershey, Barry Sandstrom, James Pinick, Derek Keller, Chris Reed and Tim Jones. Travis was a graduate of Marysville High School. He then attended Highland Community College and Kansas University and studied photography and movie making. He enjoyed KU Basketball. In high school he played basketball and summer baseball. Travis became interested in the use of natural herbs and organic products. He willingly shared vast knowledge with his family and friends. He hoped the alternative methods he learned and taught others, will help them stay healthy. Through his journey with cancer, his family and friends were his strength. He never complained about his illness but felt it drew him nearer to God and those he loved. Survivors include his parents, Tim and Rosalie Olmsted of Beattie, KS; grandparents, Pat and Helen Olmsted of Beattie, KS; two brothers, Tom Olmsted and wife Renee of LaPorte, CO, and Rob Olmsted and wife Veronica of Beattie, KS; one sister, Dana Kirkland and husband Tom of Marysville, KS; nephews and nieces Tony Olmsted, Megan Kirkland, Jennifer Kirkland and Ben Kirkland.
