James A. Kruse, age 67, of Hanover, Kansas, died Friday, January 23, 2015, at the Hanover Hospital. Jim was born on May 19, 1947 at Odell, Nebraska, the son of Wilmer and Elvira (Linkugel) Kruse. He graduated from Marysville High School in 1965 and attended Kansas University in Lawrence. In 1970, he was drafted into the U.S. Army at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. After basic training he was deployed to Vietnam and awarded the Army Commendation Medal and the Bronze Star for Meritorious Ground Combat Service. He was honorably discharged in 1976. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad until 1984. Survivors include his mother, Elvira Kruse, Marysville, brothers, Ron Kruse, Olathe, KS, Mel Kruse, Bremen, KS, sisters, Carolyn Crowe, St. Louis, MO, Dorothy Holst, Kansas City, KS, and Mary Lee Kruse, Greenleaf, Ks. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Wilmer Kruse. A family memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials will be sent to the Lutheran Hour.
