Gene B. Slupianek, 87, of Marysville, Kansas, died Friday, February 13, 2015 at Community Memorial Healthcare in Marysville. Funeral service were private with burial in the Marysville City Cemetery. Gene was born in Herkimer, the son of Al and Della (Kiener) Slupianek on August 15, 1927. Gene was known as a dapper dresser; as well as the man who loved his cars. Over the years, he drove road cars as well as a few sports cars. You could see him driving around town in his little red convertible to his last days. When he was in high school, driving home to Herkimer, his mother could hear him turning off highway 36 toward home, his car roaring. Even up to the last few months of his life he would still drive to Herkimer to “blow the cobs out of his car”. Gene served in the Merchant Marine, Army Air Corp and Air Force. A little known fact is he had a wonderful singing voice and received and accepted a scholarship to the University of Kansas for that ability, after leaving the Merchant Marines. Leaving KU after a year, he joined the military and was promptly stationed at Presque Isle, Maine. He would drive a short distance to Canada where he met his future bride, Jeannine Nadeau, daughter of Aime and Marie Nadeau. They were married at Edmunston, New Brunswick Canada, August 11, 1951. They have three sons, Scott and wife Carol, Mark and wife Patty and Eric. Other survivors include four grandchildren, Erin, Chris, Nikki and Noel. Four great grandchildren, Ashlyn, Jax, Chloe and Elise. He was preceded in death by his parents. Gene was a life long member of the Evangelical United Church of Christ, Marysville. The family has lost a loving husband and father. Gene wanted to thank all for their friendship and kindness. God Bless.
